Your coach for the day

Hi, I'm Mark Hudson, and I'll be your coach for the day.

Coach Mark Hudson
Coach Mark HudsonCertified pickleball coach · Owner of Jimi-Mod Sports · 50 years teaching racket sports

Mark is a certified pickleball coach and one of the most experienced racket sports teachers in New Mexico. He has played tennis for 59 years, taught it for 50, and runs his own instruction business, Jimi-Mod Sports, where he coaches pickleball, tennis and disc golf for players of every level. He is also an open rated disc golfer with the Albuquerque Disc Golf Association and a U.S. Army veteran.

Here is what that gets you for four hours. Fifty years of teaching means Mark has already seen every grip, every footwork habit and every nervous first swing a new player can bring, and he knows how to fix them fast and in plain language. This is not a group lecture. It is a small session of eight with a coach who has spent a lifetime turning beginners into confident players, giving you named corrections on your own game and a clear plan to keep improving. For most players, a single Saturday like this replaces months of guessing on their own.

How your coach works

1

Watch first, talk second

You have got one or two things holding your game back. Finding yours beats running the same speech for everybody.

2

One fix at a time

Ten corrections overwhelm a new player. You get the one that matters most today, then the next one.

3

Kind to your body

You leave tired in a good way, not wrecked. We want you still playing this game in ten years.

Come in brand new. Here's what usually happens by the last hour:

  • Your serve starts landing in, over and over
  • The soft dinking game finally makes sense
  • You move your feet instead of reaching for balls you shouldn't
  • You leave with a few new friends and a plan for next week

10:00 AM – 2:00 PM · hour by hour

Here is your whole Saturday.

No mystery about what you're paying for. This is the run of play, block by block.

  1. 10:00
    Names first, then paddles

Meet your group of eight, an easy warmup, first rallies while Mark starts reading your game.

  2. 10:20
    The court, in plain English

The kitchen, the two bounce rule, scoring. Ask anything, nobody here thinks it's obvious.

  3. 10:40
    Grip and soft hands

Looser than you think. The touch drill that makes day one feel like week three.

  4. 11:00
    Dinking, the soft game

The little shot everyone talks about, drilled until it stops popping up. Ends with a longest rally contest.

  5. 11:35
    Serve and return

In. Deep. Repeatable. Drilled against a target until it belongs to you.

  6. 12:05
    Break

Water, a seat, and the part where the group chat gets made.

  7. 12:15
    Volleys and the third shot

Hands at the net, and the one shot that gets you up to where points are actually won.

  8. 12:50
    Where to stand in doubles

Move together, take the middle, stop colliding with your partner.

  9. 1:10
    Real games, coach courtside

Live points with Mark calling what to try next, rep by rep.

  10. 1:50
    Your path forward

A recap of what you improved today, and exactly what to work on next week.

It was never about the paddle

You stop saying maybe next time.

The paddle is the excuse. What actually changes is that you walk onto a court full of strangers knowing you belong there.

You spend the day with seven people in exactly your spot, learning the same things at the same speed. Nobody is waiting on you and nobody is showing off. By the afternoon you're laughing between points with people whose names you didn't know that morning.

Most groups swap numbers before they leave. That's how one Saturday turns into a standing thing you look forward to all week.

A quick gut check

Is this camp for you?

It's for you if…

  • You picked up a paddle recently and love it, but real games still feel shaky
  • You want a teacher who can actually fix your mechanics, not just feed you balls
  • You're 40, 50, 60, 70. Most of our players are
  • You'd rather learn in a small group than sink or swim at open play

It's not for you if…

  • You're a 4.0 with tournament weekends already booked
  • You want twenty straight games and zero coaching
  • You're looking for a kids' program

Questions people ask before Albuquerque.

I've barely played. Am I going to be the weak link in Albuquerque?

Unlikely. That's basically everyone in the room. This camp is built for people who are new or still shaky on real points. Your coach spends the first block reading where each player actually is and adjusts the drills to match. By the closing games, you're playing real points with people at your speed, not scrambling to keep up with strangers.

What's the venue actually like?

The Picklr, 45 Hotel Circle NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123, indoor courts. One location, everything you need already there. Map and details are further down this page.

I'm well past 50. Is this pace going to wreck me?

No, and you won't be the oldest one there. Most of our players are over 50. It's built in blocks with real rest between them, not a nonstop grind. Tell us about any injury or limitation when you register and the drills adjust around it.

Do I need a DUPR rating or any kind of proof to register?

None. If DUPR numbers make you feel out of the loop, that's exactly who this is for. We ask two quick self-rating questions at signup and place you from there. No tryout, nothing to prove.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, it usually helps. Register separately, note each other's names, and we'll keep you grouped for the drills so you're not learning the game solo.

With 8 people, do I actually get watched, or is it group instruction?

You get watched. We cap it at 8 players per coach specifically so every rep gets seen. That's the whole design. A week later, you get a written plan based on your game, not a generic recap.

What should I show up with?

Your own paddle if you've got one, court shoes, water, and something you can move in. Balls are provided, and loaner paddles are available, just flag it in the notes when you register.

Something comes up and I can't make it. Then what?

Full refund, any time before camp day, one email to contact@primepickleballers.com. If we're the ones cancelling a date, you choose between a refund or credit toward the next one.

Not ready to book?

We'll email you before the next date opens.

No pressure. Leave your email and we'll let you know the moment a new seat opens, here or in another city.

Camp dates only. No spam, and one click to leave.

Saturday is four hours.
