Your coach for the day

Hi, I'm Melinda Murray, and I'll be your coach for the day.

Coach Melinda Murray
Coach Melinda MurrayPPR Certified · 5.0 · National Silver Medalist (50+) · DUPR 4.6

Melinda Murray is a PPR Certified Pickleball Professional and a 5.0 national level competitor. She picked up the game in 2020 and climbed fast: National Bronze in the 5.0 50+ division in 2023, National Silver in 2024, and she is now training toward National Gold in 2026. A lifelong racket athlete who played tennis from age 10 through the collegiate and pro level, Melinda carries a 4.6 DUPR and competes across San Diego, Spring Valley and Chula Vista.

Here is who this afternoon is really for. You already play, you can rally, and you are good enough to feel exactly where you are stuck: the third shot that floats, the reset that pops up, the speedup you cannot counter. This is where you fix it, with a national medalist watching all eight of you and handing out the specific, level-raising corrections most players never get. Melinda reached the top by mastering mechanics and decisions, not raw power, which is exactly what makes her the coach to break your plateau. A coach of this caliber, a group this small, for players ready to level up. Seats like this do not last.

How your coach works

1

Watch first, talk second

You have got one or two things holding your game back. Finding yours beats running the same speech for everybody.

2

One fix at a time

Ten corrections overwhelm a new player. You get the one that matters most today, then the next one.

3

Kind to your body

You leave tired in a good way, not wrecked. We want you still playing this game in ten years.

Come in brand new. Here's what usually happens by the last hour:

  • Your third shot drop finally holds up under pressure
  • You reset hard balls at the kitchen instead of popping them up
  • You read the point a beat earlier and stop reacting late
  • You leave with a clear plan to push toward 4.0

12:00 PM – 4:00 PM · hour by hour

Here is your whole Saturday.

No mystery about what you're paying for. This is the run of play, block by block.

  1. 12:00
Warmup and where you really are

A quick warmup and live points so Melinda sees exactly where your game is and what is capping your level.

  2. 12:20
The third shot, drop and drive

When to use each, and how to make the drop land soft and repeatable even when you are rushed.

  3. 12:55
Resets and hands at the net

Taking pace off the ball, resetting out of no-mans land, and winning the fast exchanges at the kitchen.

  4. 1:30
    Dinking with intent

Not just keeping it in. Moving your opponent, building the attack, and never giving up the free pop-up.

  5. 2:00
    Break

Water, a seat, and the part where the group chat gets made.

  6. 2:10
    Speedups and counters

When to pull the trigger, where to aim, and how to counter clean when it comes back at you.

  7. 2:45
    The transition zone

Getting from the baseline to the kitchen without getting picked apart. The hardest fifteen feet in pickleball.

  8. 3:10
    Strategy and patterns

Stacking, shot selection, and reading your opponent, the patterns that actually win points at your level.

  9. 3:30
    Live games, coached

Real games with Melinda calling what to adjust in real time, rep by rep.

  10. 3:50
    Your path forward

A recap of what you sharpened today, and exactly what to drill to keep climbing.

It was never about the paddle

You stop saying maybe next time.

The paddle is the excuse. What actually changes is that you walk onto a court full of strangers knowing you belong there.

You spend the day with seven people in exactly your spot, learning the same things at the same speed. Nobody is waiting on you and nobody is showing off. By the afternoon you're laughing between points with people whose names you didn't know that morning.

Most groups swap numbers before they leave. That's how one Saturday turns into a standing thing you look forward to all week.

A quick gut check

Is this camp for you?

It's for you if…

  • You already rally and play real games, but you have stalled around 3.0 to 3.5
  • Your third shot and resets fall apart under pressure, and you know it
  • You want to compete, not just play, and you need the next layer of strategy
  • You'd rather be coached by a national medalist in a group of eight than grind rec play

It's not for you if…

  • You have never played and still need the rules (grab one of our beginner camps instead)
  • You want twenty straight games and zero coaching
  • You're a solid 4.5 with tournament weekends already booked

Questions people ask before Carlsbad.

Is this really not for beginners?

Correct. This one is built for players who already rally and play real games and want to break through to the next level. If you are brand new, grab one of our beginner camps instead, you will get far more out of it.

What level should I be to get the most out of it?

Roughly 2.5 to 3.5, or anyone who can sustain a rally and play out points but keeps stalling at the same level. Melinda reads where each of the eight of you is in the first block and pushes everyone from there.

What's the venue actually like?

Pickleball Republic South, 2045 Corte Del Nogal, Carlsbad, CA 92011, indoor courts. One location, everything you need already there. Map and details are further down this page.

With 8 players and one coach, do I actually get watched?

Every rep. We cap it at eight on purpose so a national medalist can actually see and fix your specific patterns. A week later you get a written plan built on your game, not a generic recap.

Can I bring a partner?

Yes, and for intermediate work it helps. Register separately, note each other's names, and we'll pair you for the drills and games.

What should I bring?

Your own paddle, court shoes, water, and something you can move in. Balls are provided, loaner paddles available if you flag it at signup.

Something comes up and I can't make it?

Full refund any time before camp day, one email to contact@primepickleballers.com. If we cancel a date, you choose a refund or credit toward the next one.

Not ready to book?

We'll email you before the next date opens.

No pressure. Leave your email and we'll let you know the moment a new seat opens, here or in another city.
