Hi, I'm Matthew Mead — I'll be your coach on Sun September 6, 2026.
Matthew Mead played four years of Division III tennis at Chapman University before picking up a paddle for the first time in May 2020. He reached a competitive 4.5 level that same year, turned professional in 2022, and now competes full time on the PPA and APP tours — ranked as high as #35 in singles, #38 in mixed doubles, and top 50 in men's doubles worldwide.
In 2024 he left college coaching behind entirely to commit to pickleball full time, and now coaches out of Eagle Glen Pickleball Club in Corona. He was recently signed to the LA Heat for the Ultimate Pickleball League's 2026 inaugural season — the same competitive eye he brings to tour matches is what he'll be pointing at your game for four hours.
How your coach works
Watch first, talk second
You have got one or two things holding your game back. Finding yours beats running the same speech for everybody.
One fix at a time
Ten corrections overwhelm a new player. You get the one that matters most today, then the next one.
Kind to your body
You leave tired in a good way, not wrecked. We want you still playing this game in ten years.
Come in brand new. Here's what usually happens by the last hour:
- Your serve starts landing in, over and over
- The soft dinking game finally makes sense
- You move your feet instead of reaching for balls you shouldn't
- You leave with a few new friends and a plan for next week
Here is your whole Sunday.
No mystery about what you're paying for. This is the run of play, block by block.
Names first, then paddles
Meet your group of eight, easy warm-up, first rallies while Matthew starts reading your game.
The court, in plain English
The kitchen, the two-bounce rule, scoring. Ask anything — nobody here thinks it's obvious.
Grip and soft hands
Looser than you think. The touch drill that makes day one feel like week three.
Dinking, the soft game
The little shot everyone talks about, drilled until it stops popping up. Ends with a longest-rally contest.
Serve and return
In. Deep. Repeatable. Drilled against a target until it belongs to you.
Break
Water, a seat, and the part where the group chat gets made.
Volleys and the third shot
Hands at the net, and the one shot that gets you up to where points are actually won.
Where to stand in doubles
Move together, take the middle, stop colliding with your partner.
Real games, coach courtside
Live points with Matthew calling what to try next, rep by rep.
Your path forward
A recap of what you improved today, and exactly what to work on next week.
You stop saying maybe next time.
The paddle is the excuse. What actually changes is that you walk onto a court full of strangers knowing you belong there.
You spend the day with seven people in exactly your spot, learning the same things at the same speed. Nobody is waiting on you and nobody is showing off. By the afternoon you're laughing between points with people whose names you didn't know that morning.
Most groups swap numbers before they leave. That's how one Sunday turns into a standing thing you look forward to all week.
Is this camp for you?
It's for you if…
- You picked up a paddle recently and love it, but real games still feel shaky
- You're 40, 50, 60, 70 — most of our players are
- You want a coach watching your game, not a lecture with a paddle in your hand
- You'd rather learn with seven other beginners than sink-or-swim at open play
It's not for you if…
- You're a 4.0 with tournament weekends already booked
- You want twenty straight games and zero coaching
- You're looking for a kids' program
What this would cost you anywhere else.
Your seat is $249. This is what the pieces go for on their own.
This is the energy you're walking into.

Questions people ask before Corona.
I've barely played. Am I going to be the weak link in Corona?
Unlikely. That's basically everyone in the room. This camp is built for people who are new or still shaky on real points. Your coach spends the first block reading where each player actually is and adjusts the drills to match. By the closing games, you're playing real points with people at your speed, not scrambling to keep up with strangers.
What's the venue actually like?
Eagle Glen Pickleball Club, 1800 Eagle Glen Pkwy, Corona, CA 92883, outdoor courts. One location, everything you need already there. Map and details are further down this page.
I'm well past 50. Is this pace going to wreck me?
No, and you won't be the oldest one there. Most of our players are over 50. It's built in blocks with real rest between them, not a nonstop grind. Tell us about any injury or limitation when you register and the drills adjust around it.
Do I need a DUPR rating or any kind of proof to register?
None. If DUPR numbers make you feel out of the loop, that's exactly who this is for. We ask two quick self-rating questions at signup and place you from there. No tryout, nothing to prove.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, it usually helps. Register separately, note each other's names, and we'll keep you grouped for the drills so you're not learning the game solo.
With 8 people, do I actually get watched, or is it group instruction?
You get watched. We cap it at 8 players per coach specifically so every rep gets seen. That's the whole design. A week later, you get a written plan based on your game, not a generic recap.
What should I show up with?
Your own paddle if you've got one, court shoes, water, and something you can move in. Balls are provided, and loaner paddles are available, just flag it in the notes when you register.
Something comes up and I can't make it. Then what?
