It was never about the paddle

You stop saying maybe next time.

The paddle is the excuse. What actually changes is that you walk onto a court full of strangers knowing you belong there.

You spend the day with seven people in exactly your spot, learning the same things at the same speed. Nobody is waiting on you and nobody is showing off. By the afternoon you're laughing between points with people whose names you didn't know that morning.

Most groups swap numbers before they leave. That's how one Saturday turns into a standing thing you look forward to all week.

Questions worth asking.

What if I've barely played? Will I be the slowest one in San Diego?

No. This camp is built for beginners, so everyone is either holding a paddle for one of the first times or has played a few months and still feels like they're guessing. Your coach reads the room in the first half hour and groups the drills so people move at a speed that matches them. By the end of the day you'll be playing real points with people you'll want to play with again.

Where exactly is the camp, and what's it like?

Coastal Pickleball Courts, San Diego, CA — outdoor courts, ocean breeze. Everything happens in one place: you show up, and what you need is there. Full details and a map are further down this page.

I'm in my 50s, 60s, or beyond. Is this really for me?

Yes, and you'll be in good company. Most of our players are 50 and up. The pace is structured rather than punishing, there's a proper break between drilling blocks, and the drills adapt to any injury or limitation you tell us about when you register.

Do I need a rating to come?

No rating, no tryout, no proof of anything. If you've heard people mention DUPR numbers and felt out of the loop, this is exactly the camp for you. We ask two quick self-rating questions when you register and slot you in.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, and we'd recommend it — most beginners learn faster showing up with someone they know. Register separately, mention each other in the notes, and we'll keep you grouped during the drills.

Will I actually get individual attention?

Yes. 8 players, four hours, one coach who can watch every rep. That's why the cap is 8 and not twenty. A week after camp your coach sends a written plan based on what they saw from your game specifically.

What do I bring?

Your paddle if you have one, court shoes, a water bottle, and athletic clothes. Balls are provided, and loaner paddles are available if you haven't bought one yet — just tell us in the notes when you register.

What if I can't make the camp date?

Cancel any time before camp day for a full refund. One email to contact@primepickleballers.com is all it takes, no questions asked. If we ever have to cancel, you choose between a full refund or full credit.
